Sometimes you just want to curl up in a ball and tell the world to go away. It’s like that one, incessant friend who stays long after the rest of the party has fizzled out and gone home. The booze bottles are empty, the third movie watched, there’s barely anything left in your house to eat and, yet, they’re still there, chatting away about…something. You stopped listening hours ago and are just agonizingly counting the seconds praying they’ll leave soon.
Sometimes you just want to punch the world in the throat. But you don’t, because you’re a nice person. You see all the bad in the world and want to change it to good. You don’t litter, in fact, you actually pick up garbage (that isn’t yours?). You’ve plastered a save the whales sticker on your bumper…well, side of your computer. Car’s cause too much pollution (why commute when you can telecommute?).
Sometimes you just need to take a day for yourself. Your basket of caring is empty. You’ve got nothing left to give. So you binge watch Netflix and one day becomes one week. Well, the polar bears haven’t gone extinct yet. Your friend is still beside you (snuggled under your favorite blanket). Nothing really changed. What’s the point?
Maybe you just need to get out of your routine. Go for a walk (ew, exercise?), meet someone new (ew, people?), or find a hobby (wait, are there any that don’t involve people or exercise?).
Perhaps you grab the world by its shirt and stop taking the crap it’s giving you. Enough is enough. Or, you could watch the next episode queued up on Netflix (we have a winner). I’ll see you after I finish the last season of Star Trek: Enterprise (you’re a glutton for punishment aren’t you?)…don’t worry, I’m watching the entire saga in order of production [starting with The Original Series] so, if you don’t hear from me in a while (rejoice), you’ll know why.
