Today, as everyone is aware, is Independence Day (at least here in America). The one time of the year that it’s okay to launch fireworks. Every other day my neighbors do it, it’s annoyed.
Today we celebrate thumbing our nose at the British (which they can understand better next that they’ve thumbed their noses at the EU). Yes, they’ve become our greatest ally, but that came later. How many of you grow up to discover your parents are actually pretty cool? (It took our little broth a lot longer to move out and that house, but that’s okay. Everyone grows at their own pace.)
So, fly your flag, wave your sparklers, and take pride in our country. As you do, remember those who gave life, limb, or time for the freedom we take from granted.
Never forget their sacrifice.
