Freedom to Choose the Right Now

Well, today is Monday. Or as we know it in America, Memorial Day. (Cue obligatory post thanking veterans).
Really, I probably could have gone all day without mentioning that we take a day off because we’re free to do so. No one would have noticed. [Some one might have been offended].
We are free to watch movies or play video games all day because soldiers sacrificed to give us that privilege (and it’s a good one).
However, do I truly appreciate the opportunity?
Have I really done enough if all I do today is watch war movies and play war games  [not actual armed forces exercises].
What is the best way to appreciate a warrior’s sacrifice. Not just their lives, but their time and effort and courage and selflessness and…one blog post, one day  (or weekend) isn’t enough to adequately address it.  Unfortunately.
So, the next time you see the American flag, take a moment to remember what it stands for and all those who sacrificed to allow you the opportunities you have.
