Now that the holidays are over (New Year’s is right around the corner), it’s the dreaded return season. We spent our time standing in long lines to purchase that perfect gift for everyone on our list. Now, we spend our time standing in long lines to return those gifts that were just slightly off the mark.
Maybe you really did get two of the same ugly Christmas sweater. Perhaps the shoes really weren’t the right size. And maybe the tie doesn’t go with any of your dress shirts. And perhaps someone went “off list” or bought the wrong item.
Personally, I try to avoid the return lies. You wait and wait and wait, only to be told you’re at the wrong store or that the item can’t be returned without a receipt (who doesn’t know that?) or since it’s been opened. It’s not worth the hassle. Or the frustration. Or the embarrassment with great Aunt Tessie visits and wants you to wear the sweater she got you only to discover that you’ve given it away.
The only long line I want to stand in is the line to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. …Again.
However, since I just spent the weekend on the couch watching Harry Potter, perhaps I should go outside and play in the
snow rain and enjoy the mild weather. Either that or watch more movies while curled up under a blanket [hey, turn the heat down low and it just might even feel like winter].
