The World Cup…Like Quidditch, Right?

If you haven’t been watching the World Cup, you should consider it.  I know, soccer.  Plus, it’s in Canada.

But, how often are you going to get to watch a game in your own backyard [Canada is America’s backyard (and more recently an English colony, province, thing)]?

I never thought I’d be a fan of soccer, however, it’s actually not too terrible to watch.  There aren’t commercial breaks after every play (or change of possession).  The only real drawback is players flopping around like they’re in an NBA game trying to draw fouls and penalties [in soccer, they are different].

Friday night, Team USA takes on China.  It’s the elimination round, so anything can happen.  And, two of our starters can’t play due to yellow cards [in World Cup play, I guess the cards carry over game to game…who knew?].

We all remember how Bulgaria and Ireland faced off in the Quidditch World Cup during the summer of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire…I won’t ruin the outcome in-case you haven’t read the book seen the movie.

This will be much more exciting.  …Okay, so there aren’t leprechauns or flying broomsticks, but real life is more interesting than fiction.  Right?  …Right?  (That’s why people spend so much time in video games…)

I’m not saying you have to watch [or that not watching is un-American/unpatriotic].  All I’m saying is that by not watching, your missing out on what this blog post is about and that would be a real shame (unless of course, the blog posts always confuse you {in which case, you’re probably in the majority}).
