Official First Day of Fall

It’s Monday and all the new shows are popping up.  Old favorites are starting their new season.  Magic is in the air.  You can just tell it’s going to be a great day night.

Breathing in the crisp air, I know autumn is nearly upon us (have we had the first official day yet? [when is the first official day?]).  School’s started (no one was excited [except parents everywhere]).  Now we can relax and enjoy the new fall lineup.

Tonight, CBS is pitting perennial favorite The Big Bang Theory and newcomer Scorpion with Fox’s new Gotham and the sophomore season of Sleepy Hollow.  Let the battle of the nerds begin.  Also on are Dancing with the Stars (ABC) and The Voice (NBC).

Tuesday premieres the new season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and who isn’t excited?  CBS continues their strong start of the week line-up by pairing the premiere of NCIS with NCIS: New Orleans.  The new season of Person of Interest (also CBS) also begins alongside the second day of the two-day debut of ABC’s new series, Forever.

ABC’s familiar Wednesday night line-up returns; adding a newcomer to the laughter, black-ish.  However, it will compete with both Survivor and Big Brother on CBS and The Mysteries of Laura and Law and Order: SVU on NBC.

Thursday showcases a showdown between heavyweight, Parenthood, and hyped-up contender, How to Get Away with Murder.  Plus, the new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal (everyone’s probably asking why those aren’t my headliners?).  While Fox begins the new season of Bones and replays the premiere of Sleepy Hollow.

After all that excitement, Friday almost seems calm by comparison.  The premiere of CBS’ Hawii Five-O and Blue Bloods with ABC’s Shark Tank.

Saturday is a non-day (at least for premieres; it’s great for football).

Sunday, however, is becoming the new heavy hitter.  ABC premieres Once Upon a Time, Resurrection, and Revenge.  Fox counters with The Simpsons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and an hour-long Family Guy.  CBS joins in the battle with Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, and CSI.  NBC, of course, will play NFL football.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your DVRs and let the battles binge-watching begin.  I hope you’re caught up on all your favorite shows, because they’re back.  Life has meaning once again.  All is right with the universe.
