Okay, wait. Let me get this straight. The government shut down for two weeks and when they returned to work, they gave themselves a raise? (Well, that certainly makes me glad we didn’t default on our debt loans.) I wish I could do nothing then just give myself a raise for it [sure, I don’t really work when I’m at work; but I don’t have the power to give myself a raise].
What made Congress think they deserved a raise? “We avoided defaulting and dropping the USA’s credit score below AAA”…great. How about we use that money to, oh, I don’t know, repay our debts?
Now, believe me, I’m not against all federal employees getting raises, just those that spend more time not working than working (i.e. Congress).
