Monday comes (whether you want it to or not). It always shows up after Sunday. There a few things we can expect from Monday.
- It’s hard to get out of bed
- It’s hard to get motivated for work (even if you worked Sunday)
- It’s usually the start of something, like a workout (and it’s hard to get motivated for that)
- They come with a fully stocked case (“case of the Mondays”, worst briefcase, ever…it’s like a curse)
But, at least they’re reliable, dependable. You can count on Monday to show up, regardless of how bad you treated it last week.
We all want friends like Friday–fun, hilarious, willing to party–but we all need friends like Monday. A friend who will drag you out of bed kicking and screaming. A friend who will make you move, work, and actually do more than play video games all day (dang it).
I just wish Monday was nicer about it.
Monday can be such a jerk. But, I guess that comes with the territory when you get put down so often. Or perhaps, Monday knows we need it rough to start the week. Perhaps, Monday is just a humble guy going about his work: preparing us for the week ahead.
Or, Monday just likes toying with us.
Either way, it’s Monday. No use avoiding it [no matter how many times I hit the snooze button]. Might as well get used to it. Get it over with. And move on. At least tomorrow is a new day.
