America is driven by competition. We strive to be the best. We don’t rest until we are the best. America’s competitive spirit has given us many great inventions, commodities, and comforts. Without American ingenuity, the modern age would look a lot different.
I’m not saying we need to go to war with Russia or that Russia needs to reform the U.S.S.R. (whatever that stands for), all I’m saying is that we need someone to push us to be the best. Take the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We were driven to claim the most medals and had multiple competitors, most notably China.
Now, however, we’re left with no competition; so, we’re making up new ways to compete. You can default on your debts, we can default more. You can drop your credit rating, so can we. You have a small space program, we don’t have one at all.
We need to be driven. Where are those people who drove the rocket cars in their attempt to break the sound barrier? Are they working on FTL? The last Cold War got us to the moon (if you believe the government); the next one could get us faster than light travel…or at least to Mars.
