Excerpt from Tales of Terrible Thieves

Police reports indicate that the suspect, Stanley Cramer, was a failed inventor.  Once determined to build a better mechanical dog, he fell into despair after man’s best robot turned out to be less than faithful.  The robotic dog ran away, leaving Stanley with an emptiness in his heart and in his pockets.

Short on cash, Stanley watched the neighbors enjoying TV, going on vacations, and spending time with each other.  Distraught, Stanley decided to avenge his angst on his docile neighbors.

When the Parkers went to Disneyland, Stanley struck.  Unfortunately, he was not privy to their plans.  They were actually leaving the day after his attempted robbery.

Breaking into a second story window, Stanley carefully crawled into the house only to hear the call of nature.  He stopped into the bathroom to relive himself only to discover there was no paper on the roll.  Frantic, he searched the cabinets, but came up empty.  Stumbling around in the dark with his pants at his ankles, he made his way slowly through the house searching for the valued commodity.

When he could not find what he was looking for, Stanley decided upon a course of action.  He woke Mr. Parker in an attempt to help him search for it.  Mr. Parker told Stanley where to find the toilet paper and led him on a search around the house while Mrs. Parker called the police.
