As, I’m sure you’re all familiar, the New York media was outraged by a comment Tom Brady made.
“We have the greatest fans in America. You guys have proved that year in and year out with your support. I wish I could take all you guys to Indy with us. We’re going down there, and we’re going down there for one reason. We’re going to give it our best and hopefully we have a lot more people at our party next weekend.”
Okay, so it does sound like Brady is looking forward to returning home with another trophy and celebrating with the fans. But, it could also mean that even if the team loses, they will come home and drown their sorrows with the fans.
Basically, he’s just letting the New England area know where the party will be, regardless of the outcome of Super Bowl XLVI. I’m definitely okay with that. One last hurrah after the season to celebrate the excellence but also the disappointments. Brady is just covering his bases. What’s wrong with that? It’s a political move.
I think, however, that Tom should have electrified the crowd and guaranteed a victory. Take a play out of Rasheed Wallace’s playbook. Take a chance. After all, you’ve made it this far, go ahead, be a confident s.o.b. You’ve earned it.
Then, at least, we could have a true rebuttal from Eli Manning. Now that would make for some entertainment and give us something to do the week before the Super Bowl (that business in Hawai’i doesn’t…doesn’t count).
